Major Atom Girls Win Silver January 22, 2012 Kitchener Waterloo Tournament

BARRIE - The Barrie Royals Major Atom (U12) Girls Basketball team captured the Silver Medal on Sunday at the Kitchener Waterloo Tournament. The Royals won three games , earning a berth to the Medal Rounds. The Barrie Royals defeated Saint Catharines C.Y.O  by a score of 31- 29. The Royals then squared off against the Ontario Cup Champion London Ramblers  After a hard fought match, the Royals were defeated 49-45. The coaches attribute the teams' success to the hard work and talent of the players.

Introducing the Barrie Royals Atom Girls Team!

Coach Gary, Coach Adam, and Manager Joanne are pleased to introduce the 2011-12 Barrie Royals Atom Girls Basketball Team this year: Returners from last year - Ally Bazuk, Sophie Graszat, Chloe Hamilton, Piper Blake, Reaghan Case, Grace Rodman, Rylee Pratt-Dafoe, and Natsuki Szczokin. New players this year - Jyde Wynter, Nicole Budd, Chiara Pugh, and Katelyn Cudmore.

The Coaches are very excited about the upcoming season.

ROYALS COACH NOMINATED BY BARRIE SPORTS HALL OF FAME

Joe Denes called a multi-sport mentor and nominated for induction into Barrie Sports Hall of Fame

 

The former decathlete and national team bobsledder has had a fantastic run lately, coaching young athletes in track and field, hockey and basketball.  His work has earned him a nomination for the Barrie coach/official of the year award, courtesy of the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame.
