Barrie Royals 2009 Annual Banquet Awards

On June 1st the 16 Barrie Royals Rep teams celebrated the end of the season with a banquet hosted by Innisdale Secondary School Hospitality & Tourism students.

Sunday, May 3 

The Barrie Royals Major Midget #2 Girls team won the Gold Medal in Division 5 competition at the Provincial Championships in Kingston.  

The girls defeated Durham, Arnprior and Blessed Sacrament teams in Pool play to progress to the quarter finals.  The 46 to 39 victory over Naismith Gaels advanced Barrie to the semi-finals where they defeated Collingwood Trailblazers 40 - 34.

In the Gold medal game Barrie defeated Sarnia 48 to 38.

Congratulations on a successful season!

Bantam Girls Win Olympia Spring Invitational Tournament

Congratulations to the Bantam Girls who travelled to Olympia Sports Camp May 28-29 and captured the Championship at this annual spring tournament.  The ladies defeated Kingston Impact, Wallaceburg, Osgoode (Ottawa) and Elmira to bring home the first place plaque.  This extended the girls season record to 33 wins and 10 losses with a final ranking of 6th in the province.  The girls enjoyed the Zip Line and High Ropes as well as a devouring a ton of junk food.  Congratulations again girls on a fantastic season!  Coaches Ken and Todd want to thank you and the parents f

Barrie Royals Major Bantam Boys #2 team has been named as a 2009 Olympia Sports Camp Fair Play Award winner.  This award is given out to teams in the U13 Bantam to U16 Major Midget age categories.
